Good Friday Walk For Hunger!

You are invited to join the throngs of walkers in this year’s Good Friday Walk against hunger and homelessness. Now in its 40th year, this ecumenical city-wide event will take place Friday morning March 30th. Participants meet up at designated Stepping Out sites and walk together, 3 – 5 1/2 miles (depending on the starting site) to the State House for a gathering at 11 AM. Each group has a police escort to manage traffic. Buses are available to take walkers back to their start. The website www.goodfridaywalkforhungerri.org is full of helpful information and a fine Powerpoint document.

Participants are asked to contribute funds by seeking sponsors. The flyer and a form for listing sponsors along with a map are posted on the church bulletin board. All money raised goes directly to nonprofit services providing for those in need; there is no overhead. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

St. Martin’s has welcomed neighbors from all around the East Side as a Stepping Out site for close to 20 years. Starting at 8:30 AM, folks from churches, schools, other organizations walk together through upper south Providence en route to the State House for a total of 4 1/2 miles. We start with coffee and treats and a blessing. Our pace is gentle and the company warm, even on chilly days.

We invite you to encourage your community to join us on foot and in funding to help our neighbors in need.
