Before accepting the position of Direct of Choirs at St. Martin’s, Gabe was the choir’s bass section leader/soloist from 2004-2018. For more than twenty years he has been an active soloist in concert, recital, lyric theater, and sacred music across a range of styles and genres and has served on the faculties of several New England schools including the New England Conservatory and Providence College, teaching in both the studio and classroom, as well as directing. He holds a Bachelor’s degree summa cum laude in voice performance (Rhode Island College), Master’s degrees with academic honors in voice/pedagogy and musicology (New England Conservatory), and Ph.D. in musicology (Boston University). He is the recipient of study, research, and travels grants from the American Musicological Society, the Music Library Association, and the Boston University Center for the Humanities, and has presented papers to the national conferences of the American Musicological Society, the Society for American Music, the North American British Music Studies Associations, and the Renaissance Society of America. He is presently on the music faculty at Salve Regina University and runs a private voice studio in Attleboro, MA.
