In light of the LA wildfires, many of us are vicariously experiencing a profound sense of loss and concern for those who have lost everything most of us hold dear. Faced with the enormity of the disaster our prayer emerges from deep within us bringing new meaning to the Holy Spirit’s groaning within us. Our hearts go out to the courageous firefighters and first responders who are tirelessly working to protect lives and property, as well as to the members of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Altadena, who have faced the heartbreaking loss of their beloved church and their entire school campus.
As witnesses to these tragic events, we are reminded of our Christian responsibility to embody love and compassion not only in word but also in deed.
